LONDON MEN’S FASHION WEEK

Little hints on the street and shows for London Collection Mens (LCM) are telling us that the gentlemen are getting buttoned up for fall. The boys are trading out the flannel, grunge and facial hair of last year’s cafe racers and lumberjacks for more refined threads. Silhouettes are narrowing into cleaner, more fitted lines — even for the traditionally looser culottes and cargo pants.

We’ll see menswear evolving into 50’s inspired gentlemanly wear with a cool, modern edge and pulling from the dawn of commercial aeronautics and the heyday of the pilot. Clean, crisp lines in black and white are a shoe-in, as well as toned-down prep (think vests layered over polo shirts and sweaters in neutral colors, or tied around the waist).

As summer transitions into fall, fitted leather biker jackets, or denim over denim in varying shades, add a simple yet refined layering effect to looks. Understated refinement is key for the coming seasons — but some fun pop art prints or fresh pair of sneaks with a suit can always add that powerful sense of charm possessed by the most endearing of blue bloods.
